Moyobamba is a small jungle town 2 hours south of its bigger neighboring city Tarapoto. By jungle I don’t mean tree-house-Tarzan-style vegetation, but it’s not a very developed city just yet either. Most tourists come here for bird-watching, and the area also attracts biologists and researchers from all over the world who study and collect samples from the world’s largest rainforest. I came here for love, and although during my first week here I never would’ve imagined wanting to spend much time here, it’s now been over a year that I’m living here, and I’ve discovered a few hidden gems of co-working spaces for digital nomads.
The Puerto Mirado Hotel
My all time favorite in Moyobamba, this large hotel was built by the government with funds to boost tourism before being sold to a private owner, and it shows! The hotel has 6 living complexes, a nice pool, and stunning views of the mountains with breathtaking morning mist. I personally lived here for 3 months until I realized I could rent a house for a fraction of the cost and just come work here.
