Last year I visited Tierra Langla, an incredible community space in nature about 2 hours outside Lima, Peru for a 3-day Bio-Construction workshop where about 10 of us participants learned about traditional Andean building techniques, earth mixes, natural color pigmentation, and built the first phase of a small office building at the entrance of the property.
Tierra Langla is a community space in nature founded by an ex-executive from Lima, who told me after having worked long days for years, decided to open this space in nature to live simply. Tierra Langla is essentially a series of various buildings and structures on a large plot of land that touches a river, where the residents grow their own food, reuse, and are dedicated to sharing knowledge that points to a natural and sustainable way of life. It is a space for meditation, yoga, music and arts, in a community setting, applying the ethics and principles of Permaculture.
Here’s a video I made showing you how we built using the bio-construction method called Quincha.
